Dallas: So, there was this wild moment in the game where Cowboys special teams coach John Fassel stepped up to defend Amani Oruwariye. He made it clear that he doesn’t blame Oruwariye for the loss on Monday night. In fact, he wants the cornerback to let go of any guilt.

After the game, Fassel reached out to Oruwariye, checking in on him through texts and a phone call. He really wanted to make sure Oruwariye knew it wasn’t all on him. Fassel said, “If I were in his shoes, I’d probably react the same way.”

What happened was pretty crazy. Right after the two-minute warning in a tied game, Cowboys linebacker Nick Vigil blocked a punt. Oruwariye, not realizing the kick was blocked, touched the ball, which led to a turnover. The Bengals jumped on it, and just a few plays later, Joe Burrow threw a touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase, sealing the game.

Fassel also mentioned how some of Oruwariye’s teammates had his back during the media frenzy after the game. He reassured Oruwariye that he didn’t let the team down. “You worked hard to come back from injury, and you were just trying to make a play,” he said. It’s all part of the game, and Fassel is glad Oruwariye is feeling better now.
