The Jets are reportedly looking to hire Aaron Glenn as their next head coach, aiming to finalize the deal soon
New York: So, the Jets are really keen on Aaron Glenn as their next head coach. It seems like they want to make sure he sticks around after his second interview on Tuesday.
According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Media, things aren’t finalized yet. There are still some details to work out. If it doesn’t pan out with the Jets, the Saints are also interested in chatting with him.
Glenn has a history with the Jets, playing there from 1994 to 2001. He wrapped up his 15-year career with teams like the Texans and Cowboys. His connection with coach Bill Parcells is pretty significant too, especially since Parcells signed him to the Cowboys in 2005.
Plus, Parcells has ties to Mike Tannenbaum, the former Jets G.M. who’s leading the search for a new coach and G.M. It’s interesting to see how Parcells’ influence might play a role in this whole situation.
On the flip side, former Jets coach Rex Ryan isn’t too thrilled about this news. He’s been pretty vocal about wanting the job himself.
If Glenn gets the gig, it could also mean that Lance Newmark, who’s currently an assistant G.M. with the Commanders, might be in line for the Jets G.M. position. There’s also Chris Spielman from the Lions who could be a contender.
