Jalen Hurts discusses his injury struggles over four straight playoff seasons
Philadelphia: Jalen Hurts has had a tough run in the playoffs. Four years in a row, he’s faced injuries. It’s like a bad luck streak, right? In 2021, he hurt his ankle against the Giants and had to sit out for two games. That one even needed surgery in the offseason.
Then in 2022, he got a shoulder injury in Week 15 against the Bears, which also kept him out for two games. Fast forward to 2023, and he dislocated a finger on his throwing hand in another game against the Giants. Talk about déjà vu!
This year, after missing two games due to a concussion, he hurt his knee in the playoff win over the Rams. It’s wild—four playoff runs and four injuries. The Eagles listed him as limited in practice, but he’s still planning to play against the Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
Hurts doesn’t feel unlucky, though. He said, “It’s part of the game.” He’s all about doing what it takes to win, even if it means dealing with injuries. He’s focused on making the necessary adjustments to play well.
We’ve seen how he struggles when he can’t run, and it’s not pretty. He’s been asked if he’ll be able to use his legs effectively on Sunday. Hurts is taking it one day at a time, hoping to keep improving.
While he hasn’t been at his best in the playoffs, he’s still completed 68% of his passes with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He even rushed for 70 yards and scored a 44-yard touchdown last Sunday. But whether he’ll have that same mobility this weekend is still up in the air.
