Philadelphia: So, Eric Dickerson isn’t exactly cheering for Saquon Barkley to break his rushing record. He’s pretty clear about it, saying, “Absolutely not.”

Barkley is just 268 yards shy of Dickerson’s record of 2,105 yards, set back in 1984. With two games left, he’s got a shot, but Dickerson isn’t holding his breath.

He told the Los Angeles Times he doesn’t think Barkley will pull it off. And if he does, it’ll be in 17 games, while Dickerson did it in just 16. “That’s just how it is,” he said.

Right now, Barkley needs to average about 134 yards in his last two games to break the record. He’s done that in six games this season, so it’s not impossible, especially with the Eagles likely leaning on their run game.

Even if Barkley doesn’t break the record, he could still join the exclusive 2,000-yard club. Only eight other players have done it, with Derrick Henry being the most recent in 2020.

And how wild would it be if Barkley broke the record against the New York Giants? That’s the team that let him go, and Dickerson thinks it would be a real “slap in the face” for them.
