The Eagles have added tight end Cameron Latu to their roster on a futures contract
Philadelphia: The Eagles are making some interesting moves lately. They just signed Cameron Latu, a tight end who was a third-round pick by the 49ers. He’s on a reserve/futures contract now.
Latu, who’s 24, was picked 101st overall in the 2023 draft. But here’s the kicker—he hasn’t played in a regular season game yet. He’ll get a shot to join the team for spring workouts and training camp, which is pretty cool.
After being cut by the 49ers, he spent most of the season on the Browns’ practice squad. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to play in any games. His rookie year was a tough one, ending early due to a knee injury that required surgery.
The Eagles seem to have a knack for picking up former 49ers players. Since 2021, they’ve brought in quite a few third-round picks from San Francisco. It’s like they have a little pipeline going!
Latu had a solid college career at Alabama, racking up 56 catches for 787 yards and 12 touchdowns over his last two seasons. He’s got some potential, even if he’s had a rough start in the NFL.
In addition to signing Latu, the Eagles also released WR Elijah Cooks from their practice squad. It’s all part of the game, I guess!
