With Trent Baalke gone, the Jaguars face a pivotal moment in their coaching search
Jacksonville: So, the Jaguars finally let go of Trent Baalke, huh? Some folks say it’s better late than never, but it sure took them a while.
As teams were looking for new coaches, many candidates weren’t too keen on working with Baalke. Now that he’s out, it’s a bit of a scramble. Some potential hires, like Ben Johnson and Liam Coen, have already moved on to other gigs.
What’s next for the Jaguars? Coen might still change his mind, but who knows? He could end up coaching somewhere else, even with a new contract.
They’ve been busy interviewing a bunch of candidates, including Aaron Glenn, Robert Saleh, Kellen Moore, Joe Brady, Patrick Graham, Todd Monken, Brian Flores, and Steve Spagnuolo. Quite the lineup!
They’re even bringing back Saleh and Graham for second interviews. It’s a big deal, and it makes you wonder if they’ll widen their search now that Baalke is gone.
Maybe some coaches who weren’t interested before will take a second look. Who knows, maybe even Bill Belichick might be intrigued, especially with Mike Lombardi by his side.
It’s clear the Jaguars dropped the ball by not making changes sooner. Shad Khan has owned the team for over a decade, and he should have seen that Baalke was a problem.
