Aaron Rodgers is in no hurry to decide on his NFL future, waiting for the Jets’ new leadership.
New York: Aaron Rodgers is taking his sweet time figuring out if he’ll play another season in the NFL. He recently shared on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he wants to see who the Jets hire as their new head coach and GM before making any decisions.
Rodgers, a four-time MVP, mentioned that it’s all about the right fit. He said, “It’s going to come down to the GM and coach and myself, and whether we all want to do a dance together.” The Jets are looking at a bunch of candidates for both roles, so it’s a busy time for the team.
At 41, Rodgers had a solid season, playing all 17 games and hitting impressive milestones like 500 touchdowns and over 60,000 passing yards. But the Jets had a rough year, finishing 5-12, which led to the firing of both their head coach and GM.
He’s been keeping things low-key with the Jets, saying he hasn’t had much chat with the team about his future. “I told them I’m going to take some time,” he explained. He’s waiting for the Jets to make their moves before he jumps into any discussions.
There’s also some financial stuff to consider. If the Jets and Rodgers part ways, they could face some hefty cap hits in the coming years. Former teammate Brett Favre chimed in, suggesting that if Rodgers feels he can still play at a high level, he should go for it. “You can’t go back,” Favre said, encouraging him to trust his gut.
